About Save Towson Soccer & Baseball
Save Towson Soccer & Baseball was founded by alumni of both programs who don't want to see the proud legacies and traditions they created erased from Towson University.
The Issue
Towson Athletic Director, Mike Waddell, has forwarded his recommendation to Towson's President, Maravene Loeschke, that both the men's soccer and baseball programs should be terminated immediately at the end of the current 2012 fall season. Mr. Waddell has stated that his recommended plan has been developed based on three strategic principles:
President Loeschke is appointing a task force, headed by the Chair of the University’s Board of Visitors David Nevins, to take in feedback from the students, alumni and the internal and external stakeholders of Towson University through a series of public meetings which will be announced in the coming days. The Task Force will provide a recommendation to the President who will in turn make a final decision on the Athletic Directors recommendation by the middle of November.
- Long-term financial stability of Towson Athletics
- Increased competitiveness of all of our teams
- Long-term compliance with Federal Law

Our Mission
To show President Loeschke and the Task Force that the men's soccer & baseball programs are a vital and important part of the university and that it would be a travesty to cut them. Since 1921 Towson University has had a men's soccer team and since 1966 a baseball team. Our mission is to see that both programs continue well into the future.
Mr. Waddell said. "After working with our Athletics Leadership Team and following counsel with many internal and external stakeholders, we have come to the conclusion that we cannot maintain the current sports sponsorship structure while meeting the three principles above." We're sorry to disappoint Mr. Waddell but his solution simply isn't good enough! So through our own resources, efforts and Tiger Pride we're going to show a viable solution to keep both programs while meeting the three principles.
